Which images work best?
Great: logos, flags, emoji, pixel art, text β flat colours, hard edges, few shades. A transparent PNG is ideal: the background is then free by definition.
Expensive and disappointing: glow, neon, soft shadows, blur, gradients and photos. A glow is a slow fade into the background, so it covers a large area in colours that are almost invisible on our dark canvas β you pay full price per pixel for a halo nobody sees, and the subject itself ends up washed out.
Cleanup drops the background and any halo below the threshold, and crops to the subject so your pixel budget buys detail instead of empty margin. Still, a flat version of the same picture will always look sharper here than a glowing one.
Click Place on canvas β then click where the image's bottom-left corner should sit; it grows upwards from there, so you can aim straight at what you want to sit above. The image gets added to your selection β confirm with Reserve as usual.
